16th century Best Western hotel in Kent sold to entrepreneurs
Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has supported the sale of The Rose & Crown, a 56-bedroom Best Western hotel on Tonbridge High Street in Kent.
Formally a Tudor coaching inn dating back to the 1500s, The Rose & Crown is an historic hotel, which has undergone an extensive renovation to offer 21st century comfort, whilst also retaining its 16th century character.
Along with its 56 bedrooms, the hotel offers guests a fine dining experience in The Oak Room Bar & Grill, as well as two function rooms which cater for up to 100 people.
The business has been owned by experienced hotelier, Nick Richards for the past 11 years and came to the market as Nick had decided to retire. This presented an excellent opportunity for the new owners, Raghav Duggal and Ashita Duggal, to snap up the historic property. The entrepreneurial couple are actively looking to expand their portfolio in the regional hotel market.
Andrew Moore, Director – Hotels South East at Christie & Co comments, “Having acted for Nick for a number of years, it was great to be involved in the sale of the Rose and Crown and I wish Nick well on his retirement.
“This sale is a really positive example of the strong demand that we are seeing for hotel assets in the South East. This appetite is coming from local and existing hotel owners, as well as private and corporate investors from the UK and abroad, notably the USA, far East and South Africa, making it a great time to think about selling your hotel business.”
