300-year-old Greater Manchester hotel for sale with Christie & Co
Specialist commercial property adviser, Christie & Co has been instructed to sell The Grains Bar Hotel which is located on the outskirts of Greater Manchester with views over Saddleworth and the Oldham hills.
With easy access to the motorway network, the hotel is perfectly located for tourists visiting Saddleworth’s festivals and events which attract thousands of visitors each year. Thought to date back to the seventeenth century, it is set in open countryside and is a short distance from Denshaw, Delp, Uppermill and Greenfield, with Manchester city centre only a 10 minute drive away.
Internally, the hotel has two bar areas, two function rooms which are ideal for weddings and family celebrations, and 23 letting bedrooms – 16 of which are ensuite. The letting rooms include single rooms, double rooms, twin and family rooms and can cater for larger groups.
The hotel is set in approximately nine acres of farm land with lawned gardens, an ornamental pond, summer house and a marquee which was erected two years ago. Most rooms have views overlooking the Saddleworth Moors.
Tom O’Malley, who is handling the sale from Christie & Co’s Manchester office comments: “The current operators have owned The Grains Bar Hotel for over 20 years and have reluctantly taken the decision to retire from the business.
“The hotel would suit an ambitious new owner who could take full advantage of the wedding season and increase the restaurant trade. We believe that there is a large potential to increase turnover by promoting these two income streams.”
