A royal pub for sale in Cheshire

The Queen’s Head, located along the Macclesfield canal in the leafy suburb of Congleton, Cheshire has come to the market through specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.

Sitting within c.0.55 acres and surrounded by stunning countryside, The Queen’s Head is a traditional pub with a large beer garden, boules court and children’s play area, the property boasts landscaped gardens often used to house a marquee for events.

Dating back to the mid-1800s, the pub is thought to be named in commemoration of Queen Victoria’s reign. In April 2006, the pub was featured in a BBC Radio 4 programme depicting the way of life in the pub, in celebration of Queen Elizabeth’s 80th birthday.

There is a recently refurbished adjoining cottage which houses three double en suite letting bedrooms, in addition to the three bedroom owner’s accommodation above the pub.

The property lies only one mile from the city centre and presents a number of development opportunities subject to obtaining planning permission.

Tom O’Malley, Business Agent at Christie & Co who is handling the sale comments; “The Queen’s Head presents a great opportunity to acquire an attractive canal side freehold Cheshire pub which may be suitable for alternative use.”

Christie & Co is seeking an asking price of £675,000 + VAT for the freehold.
