Beautifully designed, luxury country house holiday let for sale
Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has been instructed to sell a stunning, late 1800’s Arts and Crafts style Manor House tucked away in its own haven on the edge of the North York Moors.
Irton Manor trades as a private and exclusive hire holiday let located in Irton near to Scarborough, North Yorkshire. Exuding luxury and allure, the property offers a great escape for guests who are kept occupied by the amenities on offer, including a large indoor heated swimming pool, a tennis court, a mini golf course and croquet lawn.
Approaching through electric gates and up a majestic, sweeping drive, the country house sleeps a maximum of twelve people and is set within 15 acres of beautifully maintained gardens, parkland and woodland. Many of the six spacious bedrooms offer en-suites and either bi-folding or French doors overlooking the gardens and far reaching views of the Yorkshire Wolds.
The Manor House is beautifully designed with many fine period features and every aspect of the house has been lovingly furbished with extraordinary care and attention to detail. A stunning, open-plan Italian designed kitchen and family room lies at the heart of the house comprising bi-folding doors which open onto a patio and sun terrace.
There are characterful, oak panelled rooms with tiled fireplaces, a superb oak staircase and magnificent stain glass windows, which were installed when the house was built. The image depicts John Peel on horseback and legend has it that the house was built by a Turf Accountant back in 1910, who ultimately lost it in a game of cards!
There is also a Courtyard Cottage, an attached three bed Cottage and a detached two bed timber lodge within the grounds which overlooks a small lake.
Current owners, Paul and Karan Ridley, reveal how they came to buy Irton Manor, “A friend asked me if I would like to attend a Macmillan garden fete at Irton Manor. We arranged to meet her but, unfortunately, she forgot to turn up. We loved the gardens so much that we asked the owner to sell the house to us; and that was how we end up buying this beautiful property. It was very run down at the time, and took us close to two years to renovate the entire house, both inside and out.”
Despite its semi-rural location, the property is still close to towns and beaches, with the closest villages being Seamer and Ayton, which are both approximately one mile away. It is also within convenient reach of the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast, which runs the length of the North York Moors National Park and boasts a dramatic coastline full of rugged cliffs and small fishing villages. It is also not far from the cultural centre, the beautiful port of Whitby and Robin Hood’s bank.
Mark Worley, Director in Christie & Co’s Newcastle office comments, “Christie & Co is seeking an asking price of £1,950,000 for the freehold. There is also a further 20 acres of land available by separate negotiation which includes several rented cottages and a riding school.”
