Black Lion pub in Sedgefield, County Durham sold
Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has sold the Black Lion, a substantial public house in the affluent and picturesque village of Sedgefield in County Durham.
The property comprises a main trading area with a bar and lounge and boasts a courtyard trading area with a secluded beer garden. Accessible via the garden are a number of outbuildings on the site, previously used for storage but with potential to be converted for alternative use. The site also includes a four bedroom maisonette arranged over three levels, providing owner’s accommodation.
With Sedgefield Racecourse a major attraction for visitors to the area, the village is also home to a number of well established pubs, restaurants and coffee shops, generating a high level of interest and footfall. Previously trading on wet sales and operating four days a week from Thursday to Sunday, the Black Lion presented a tremendous opportunity for a new owner to diversify the pub’s offerings and extend its trading hours. The new owners have carried out a refurbishment of the property and revitalised the previously underused beer garden to the rear.

Christie & Co sought offers in excess of £250,000 for the freehold of Black Lion.
