Brothers buy popular Bristol hotel with plans for development
Town & Country Lodge, a hotel, restaurant and function venue located on the Bridgwater Road connecting Bristol city centre and Bristol Airport, has been sold through specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co for in excess of the £1.6m asking price.
The venue is set within 2.5 acres and includes 36 letting bedrooms and extensive public areas, including a former nightclub. It has been bought by existing local operators and will continue to operate as a hotel and family pub/restaurant with future plans to further develop the business.
The previous owners, the Ashdown family, owned the site for 40 years and sold the business in order to retire.
Jonathan Hill, Director in Christie & Co’s Bristol office comments, “Our comprehensive marketing campaign generated high levels of interest in this site and several offers from a mixture of operators and local developers well in excess of the asking price.
“Its popularity can be attributed to the opening of the new South Bristol Link Road providing swift access to the fast expanding Bristol International Airport and various business parks, and the numerous opportunities to develop the business from increased passing trade such as food & beverage, accommodation, meetings, conferences, function and wedding trade.
“More than 7.5 million passengers used Bristol Airport last year, surpassing the total for 2015 by over three quarters of a million passengers. The record annual number represents an 11.3% increase year on year, and a seventh consecutive year of growth for England's third largest regional airport. This presents a huge amount of opportunity for Bristol’s hospitality sector.”
