Charmouth nursing home sold for the first time in over 30 years
Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of Bymead House Nursing Home in the village of Charmouth, west Dorset.
Formally a two-storey residential property which has been extended, modified, and improved over the years, Bymead House Nursing Home now provides accommodation for up to 30 elderly residents with extensive, well-established gardens. The home is located in a residential area towards the outskirts of the west Dorset coastal village of Charmouth.
Since acquiring the home in 1992, Susan Blacklock has built a high-quality business with an excellent reputation, and recently decided to sell to retire from the sector.
Following a confidential sales process with Christie & Co, the business has been purchased by Wade Newmark of BN Care Group. The group already owns two nursing homes in and on the outskirts of Exeter, and Wade felt that Bymead House was a natural addition. The purchase was backed by HSBC Bank with additional backing from the Business Growth Fund (BGF).
Susan Blacklock, previous owner at Bymead House Nursing Home, comments, “It was a major decision to sell Bymead after 30 years ownership and I wish to thank Simon Harvey of Christie & Co for steering me through the process. I would like to wish Wade Newmark and his team all success going forward with Bymead House.”
Wade Newmark, Managing Director at BN Care Group, comments, “At BN Care, we are incredibly fortunate to take on a home whose history, team, and reputation chime so closely with our values of kindness and community. I have owned and operated care homes for the past 18 years, and will hopefully bring some of my experience to Bymead to take the home forward and to build on the wonderful foundation set down by Susan over the years.”
Simon Harvey, Senior Director – Healthcare at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, comments, “Homes in these locations, with consistently strong, profitable trading performances and excellent reputations, just like Bymead House, are highly sought-after by a wide range of buyers and, in particular, operators who understand the individual areas and how important it is that their homes sit as part of the local communities. As we move through March, the care market remains buoyant, with numerous ongoing deals as well as strong interest being shown in a number of other ongoing projects and, therefore, the general tone and expectation for the remainder of the year is positive. We expect volumes to be maintained throughout 2023 and beyond.”
Bymead House Nursing Home was sold for an undisclosed price.
