Café & coffee shop in Leeds sold to local business owner

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has completed on the sale of House of Koko, a popular café and coffee shop in the Chapel Allerton district of Leeds, West Yorkshire, to a local business owner in the licensed sector.

Comprising an open plan dining area for up to 22 covers and a well presented outside terrace for 30 covers, House of Koko serves the high levels of passing trade and local young professionals in the busy city. Situated within an urban residential area close to the city centre, the café sees strong footfall.

Previous owners, Chris Ball and Shanshan Zhu decided to sell the leasehold of House of Koko as they are planning to move to Bali. They comment, “Following the sale of House of Koko, we would like to take this opportunity to thank Business Agent, Sam Ashton and the team at Christie & Co for their efforts in successfully selling our former business. After many years of successful trade and good memories, we are now moving on to the next chapter of our lives and wish the new owner all the best.

“Christie & Co showed great professionalism and persistence throughout the process and helped us get over the line in a good amount of time.”

New owner, Rosita Roger is a current leaseholder of the nightclub and music venue, Distrikt Bar, in Leeds city centre and plans to further grow House of Koko by extending the food offering to evening trade. She comments, “I’m grateful for the help of business agent, Sam Ashton of Christie & Co. I am excited to get going on my new business venture in 2019 and drive the business further. I hope to retain the previous customers and bring in lots of new. Please call in and make yourself at home!”

Sam Ashton, Business Agent at Christie & Co who handled the sale, comments, “I thoroughly enjoyed the marketing and sale of this business. We achieved lots of interest from a handful of parties within weeks of marketing and within one month we agreed a deal with an offer over the asking price, which is a great result.

“House of Koko is a great brand which Rosita has inherited with the business and I wish her the best of luck for the future.”

House of Koko was sold off an asking price of £75,000 for the leasehold interest.
