Cat Head Inn to reopen after seven month closure

Cat Head Inn, a character pub in the Somerset village of Chiselborough has been sold in a deal brokered by specialist property adviser Christie + Co.
The Grade II listed property has been acquired for an undisclosed sum by husband-and-wife team Paul and Jo Stretton-Downes from Cornwall. The couple, who have previously owned pubs and restaurants in Cornwall, are looking forward to reopening the doors of the Cat Head Inn after a refurbishment is carried out.
Located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), the period property is built from locally quarried stone and is a former converted farmhouse that still has all of its original features intact with beautiful open fireplaces and exposed brickwork.
The sale of the property was handled by Richard Wood of Christie + Co's Exeter office, who notes that sentiment towards the sector is inching to pre-crisis level. He says: “The pub sector has continued to prosper in 2015 and at Christie + Co we have identified a clear improvement in buyer appetite for quality assets in good locations, such as the Cat Head Inn. Interest in this property was strong with a number of offers received.”
He adds: “The Cat Head Inn fits perfectly with the new owners’ plans and we wish them every success with their new venture."
