Chester guest house finds new owners after 28 years

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has completed on the sale of Hamilton Court, a four star guest house located close to Chester city centre and Chester railway station, that is popular with tourists.

Situated in the suburb of Hoole, a popular location for hotels and B&Bs, as well as numerous bars and restaurants, the semi-detached brick built property features 11 en suite letting bedrooms that were refreshed and modernised in 2017. Hamilton Court has its own fully licensed restaurant that is open to residents and non-residents alike and caters for up-to 28 diners. In addition, guests can benefit from off road parking and outdoor patio seating.

Previous owners, Vivian and Ann Finan, have owned Hamilton Court for the past 28 years and are now selling in order to retire. Vivian comments, “Both Ann and I can’t thank Christie & Co enough for their wonderful support and encouragement over the last three years in the sale of Hamilton Court. Without them, we couldn't have achieved what we did for everyone concerned and such a good outcome. At times it was a long and arduous journey, but we got there in the end. Thank you once again.”

The new owner, Michael Bartlett, is a hotel and property investor and plans to continue operating the business as a bed & breakfast. He comments, “I am enthusiastic about continuing to run Hamilton Court as a 4-star guesthouse. I hope to build upon the previous owners’ hard work in running this established, popular guesthouse with many personal touches, a homely feel, and superb cooked breakfasts! I am excited about the opportunities Hoole presents, as it as an attractive choice for both tourists and business travellers. As a hotelier, I am very interested in Chester, and Cheshire as a whole, which currently sees approximately 25 million visitors a year.”

Tom O’Malley, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co who handled the sale, comments, “We’re pleased to have found a new owner for Hamilton Court. Chester and its surrounding suburbs have a wealth of high quality hospitality businesses and they remain popular with a wide variety of buyers. We wish Vivian and Ann a happy retirement and extend our best wishes to Michael and his new business venture.”

Hamilton Court was sold through Christie & Co on a freehold basis off an asking price of £780,000
