Christie & Co celebrates 20th anniversary in Germany
Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has every reason to celebrate: it is 20 years since its first office opened in Frankfurt, followed by offices in Berlin and Munich. Ever since, the company has been a leading consultant for hotel properties in Germany. Managing Director Lukas Hochedlinger reviews the past and looks ahead optimistically to the future.
The company was established by George Christie, James Owen and Nick Davies in London’s Baker Street in May 1935 and the first international office opened in Paris in 1998, followed by the Frankfurt office in 1999. Today Christie & Co employs some 280 experts and maintains 30 branch offices across Europe and in Shanghai.
Chris Day, Global Managing Director of Christie & Co comments: “Across Europe Christie & Co continues to develop, and the ethos of the founding members – namely, putting the interests of our customers front and centre – still holds true. Throughout our history, we have adapted to current trends and the changing requirements of the market. Germany is a vibrant market and we look forward to future success across all sectors.”
In 2015, Lukas Hochedlinger assumed the management of Christie & Co’s three German branches alongside his existing role as Managing Director for Austria and Eastern Europe. “Year on year we work with hundreds of hotel owners, developers and operators, effectively guiding sales processes and providing evaluations and sound advice. No two sales processes or consultancy assignments are the same, and that’s the best thing about the job we do. I can look back fondly and proudly on many projects, both large and small. Our particular strength lies in bringing the most difficult projects to a positive conclusion,” says Lukas Hochedlinger, Managing Director – Central & Northern Europe.
With three offices in Germany, Christie & Co is well connected both locally and nationally. “To me, the German hotel market is more interesting than almost any other, it is constantly evolving and expanding. In 2018, the number of overnight stays went up for the 9th time in succession and the German hotel market is in good shape. There are many reasons for investors to have faith in the markets and keep Germany’s main cities on their radar,” emphasises Hochedlinger.
Hochedlinger acknowledges the well documented successes of the German offices over the last 20 years and is keen to look to the future, driving this success forwards. “We have built up an outstanding team of motivated hotel experts in Germany as well as across Europe, combining expertise, market knowledge, team spirit and a love of hotels. Added to this are all the exciting hotel properties we are currently marketing. As for the years ahead, Christie & Co will continue to expand and keep on setting the standard according to the needs of the market. We recognise that our clients are truly international, and we are particularly proud of our strong pan-European team and are excited to continue to work together on many projects in the future.”
