Christie & Co sell Lake District convenience store to new operator
Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has sold the Mace branded convenience store on Main Street within the Cumbrian tourist town of Keswick, in the heart of the Lake District National Park, to new entrants in the retail sector.
The business, which trades under management, is heavily relied upon by the local community and benefits from trade among both local residents and the large number of visitors exploring Keswick’s abundance of self-catering tourist accommodation throughout the year.
Previous owner, Scott Harper, who had owned the store for the past 15 years, has sold the store in order to pursue business interests outside of the convenience retail sector, and comments, “I’ve enjoyed serving our customers here in Keswick. Being a small town, the store is relied upon by many in the community, and I wish the incoming operators every success in running their new business.”
Ashley Cobban, Business Agent at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, comments, “It’s rare that a thriving convenience store comes to the market in such a desirable location. With that in mind, it’s unsurprising that the Mace in Keswick received numerous expressions of interest, a multitude of viewings, and subsequently multiple offers. We’re pleased to have found a suitable buyer for the business and wish Scott good luck with his future plans.”
The Mace branded convenience store was sold on a leasehold basis off an asking price of £140,000.
