Specialist property adviser Christie + Co has sold Mode Hotel, a stylish and contemporary 17 bedroom boutique hotel located in the popular and sought after seaside resort of Lytham St Anne’s near Blackpool. The hotel is located on South Promenade and some of the luxury bedrooms benefit from sea views.
Following a short marketing period Christie + Co sold the hotel to Hong Kong based private investor Andrew Whitaker who grew up in St Anne’s and often helped out at his grandparents hotel. He has extensive hotel management experience in high-end hotels, having worked overseas for more than 20 years; currently he is South East Asia general manager of Peninsula Clubs and Consultancy Services and was formerly general manager of the New World Beijing Hotel. Andrew has held similar positions at the New World Dalian Hotel, the Shangri-la Hotels in Asia, the Golden Sands Resort in Penang, Malaysia and the Andara Resort and Villas in Phuket, Thailand. Andrew had been looking for a hotel in the UK for some time and felt Mode Hotel’s location was ideal for tourists visiting the area.
Andrew comments “I am very happy to acquire the Mode Hotel in my home town, particularly as the hotel has been well managed in the past by Andrew Haworth and his team.
The hotel Management team will remain in place as we look to enhance the hotel over the coming years, with the addition of two new bedrooms and a new web site that has already been launched”.
Christie + Co sold the hotel on behalf of Andrew Haworth, who also owns other notable hotels in the North West. Andrew comments: “We are very pleased to complete the sale of Mode to Andrew Whittaker and would like to wish him and the team every future success”.
David Lee, Regional Director and hotel specialist at Christie + Co, comments: “The sale of Mode Hotel is the latest example of an increasingly buoyant hotel market in the North West of England. Sought after residential areas like Lytham St Anne’s contain a lot of different types of hotels and they are always popular. We would like to congratulate Andrew and Andrew on their sale and purchase.
“Hotels in the North of England are very popular with investors from overseas, and with Andrew's local connection this seems to be the perfect purchase for him”.
