Destination pub & restaurant acquired by regional group operator
Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has brokered the sale of pub and restaurant, The Inn at West End, in the Surrey village of West End, between the towns of Camberley and Woking.
Ideally positioned on the A322 in the heart of the village, the popular, award-winning pub and restaurant is renowned for its exceptional food and benefits from high volumes of trade due to its close proximity to Ascot Racecourse, Bisley and Heathrow. Formerly a brewery pub, the business has grown in popularity over the past 15 years, generating custom not only from the local community but also corporate guests, shooters, racegoers and visitors to the area, serving quality food and fine wines.
Featuring 12 tastefully furnished en suite letting rooms which were added in Spring 2015, former owners and husband and wife team, Gerry and Ann Price, are leaving the destination pub in a very strong trading position with the business enjoying an enviable reputation. Mr and Mrs Price are looking forward to semi-retirement and working as consultants, in particular with wine and food.
New owner and regional group operator, Barons Pub Company Ltd, established in 2000, adds The Inn at West End to their portfolio of seven pubs situated across Surrey and Berkshire, which include The Cricketers in Horsell, The Star in Leatherhead, Rose & Crown in Thorpe, The Bletchingley Arms in Bletchingley, The Crown & Cushion in Camberley, The Black Boy in Shinfield and The Horseshoe in Warlingham.
Clive Price, Managing Director at Barons Pub Company comments, “We’re delighted to have acquired our first pub with letting rooms and have some really exciting plans for the future of the site. Following a short, ten day makeover, we’re looking forward to opening the doors to our first customers and overnight guests on the evening of 11th October.”
Richard Wood, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co handled the sale and comments, “The Inn at West End represented a fantastic opportunity to acquire a well established and highly regarded freehold business and we were delighted to sell it off market through a confidential marketing campaign.
“Gerry and Ann did a great job of building up the business and growing it into a popular and high quality venue with the added value of letting rooms. Pubs and restaurants with overnight guest accommodation are highly sought after, particularly when in a desirable location close to local amenities and attractions.”
The Inn at West End was sold off a freehold guide price of £2,500,000.
