Development site at former Boston United Football Club grounds for sale
A substantial site at York Street, Lincolnshire, which has been utilised as Boston United Football Club’s ground, has been brought to the market through specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, for potential development.
Following their recent announcement, Boston United Football Club has signed a new lease extension which will see the club play at their York Street ground until July 2020, when they are then expecting to relocate to their new stadium in The Quadrant. The ground will leave a substantial site for redevelopment, which extends to 4.3 acres, and could be suitable for a variety of uses, subject to planning permission.
The Gliderdrome remains unaffected and the Malkinsons are continuing to run the venue with bookings confirmed throughout this year and into next year, with business to continue as usual at the Gliderdrome.
David Newton, Chairman of Boston United comments, ‘We were very pleased when the Malkinson family granted a lease extension to help cover the period before the new community stadium will be complete. It will be sad to leave the York Street ground which holds so many memories for the club’s fans, but the new stadium will give the club a more secure future.”
Nicole Madin, Business Agent at Christie and Co who is handling the sale comments, “This is an excellent opportunity for a new development to be created, subject to planning permission, which benefits the town of Boston and also presents a purchaser with the option of maintaining an historic music and events venue.”
