Dolbadarn Hotel sold for the first time in 40 years as owner retires
Specialist hospitality property adviser, Christie & Co, is pleased to report Dolbadarn Hotel, in the busy tourist village of Llanberis, has been sold for the first time in 40 years.
Set within its own grounds, Dolbadarn Hotel is a Llanberis landmark steeped in history, having been built originally as a coaching inn during 1802 and noted as the oldest building in the village. Over the years, the 22-bedroom hotel has been extended to include a bar, restaurant and function room which has become popular amongst local residents.
The property enjoys a prominent position along Llanberis’ High Street, against a backdrop of the spectacular and dramatic scenery of the Snowdonia Mountain Range. It’s a fantastic base to explore the surrounding mountains, lakes, rivers and forests of Snowdonia National Park, which generate demand for visitor accommodation year-round. Also within walking distance of the hotel is the ruins of Dolbadarn Castle, which is the subject of a famous oil painting by Joseph M W Turner.
The previous owner, Aneuryn Jones made the decision to sell in order to retire. He comments, “The hotel holds a special place for us, having owned it for over 40 years. The hotel has been purchased by Grant Kangley, an experienced operator who plans to breathe new life into the building with a refurbishment.
