Edinburgh’s iconic Peacock Inn is sold

Specialist property advisor Christie + Co have sold The Peacock Inn, one of Edinburgh’s best-known pubs.
Rich in history, the pub’s legacy can be traced back to 1767 and since the nineteenth century, the popular Newhaven haunt has been famed for its traditional fish and chips dishes. It occupies a prominent trading position on Lindsay Road in the heart of the Newhaven Harbour area which has undergone substantial redevelopment over the last 20 years. In 2011 the Peacock Inn underwent substantial refurbishment but failed to rekindle its glory days and was subsequently closed at the end of 2014.
The property has been purchased by the well-known independent Edinburgh retailer and restaurateur Remo Margiotta. Remo plans to extensively upgrade the property opening in mid January 2016 as a gastro pub called The Mucky Fox.
Jamie Jackson at Christie + Co’s Edinburgh’s office who handled the sale comments: “There was significant interest in the Peacock Inn and we are delighted that an operator of Remo’s standing and expertise has purchased this well known property. We wish him all the best with his new business venture.”
