The club, which closed in January after the exit of the previous tenant, has been leased to local publican Sean Kelly who runs The Queens Head and is the licensee at The General Buller in Exeter. Q Club reopened on Friday 27 May, in time for the bank holiday weekend.

Stephen Champion, Business Agent at Christie & Co who brokered the lease comments: “We were approached by Mr Kelly who was interested in acquiring the lease of Q Club when the news broke of its closure with Lifestyle Hospitality Group. After a meeting with the freeholder, a deal was brokered to set up a new lease for the ingoing tenant.

“We are delighted to see the club open again and in the hands of such an enthusiastic operator. This sale further demonstrates the strong demand we are seeing from multiple and single operators looking to acquire licensed premises in East Devon.”

Sean comments: “It’s great to be back in the nightclub trade and in the town I first started my career as a DJ at The Smugglers Bar Disco, Sandy Bay, way back in the 80s. I am passionate about bringing a safe and great atmosphere to the Q Club and look forward to greeting my customers on Friday and Saturday nights.”
