Glyncoch Pharmacy in Pontypridd village sold for the first time
Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of Glyncoch Pharmacy in Pontypridd, Wales. Funding for the sale was sourced through Christie Finance.
Glyncoch Pharmacy is a standard-hours community pharmacy which dispenses an average of 6,275 items per month. The business sits completely unopposed in the village of Glyncoch, just a short drive to the north of Pontypridd and approximately 14 miles north of Cardiff. It occupies the ground floor of a modern detached property which fronts the main road through the village.
The business has been owned and operated by Mr Peter and Mrs Gillian Davies since May 1994 and was brought to market to allow the couple to retire.
Mr Davies comments, “Even in these difficult times, Christie & Co was able to introduce us to a wide variety of potential buyers with greatly different plans for the business. With their help and advice, we were able to choose a buyer who shared our vision for the future development of the pharmacy, whilst obtaining an acceptable price. I am absolutely delighted to have sold my business and couldn’t be happier with who has taken it on and am sure they will make a success of it going forward.”
Glyncoch Pharmacy has been purchased by first-time buyers Mr Lewis and Mrs Purvi Smart. Mrs Smart comments, “We’re delighted that Glyncoch Pharmacy is our first pharmacy purchase and can’t wait start to grow and build on the wonderful business that already exists. Christie Finance were invaluable in securing us funding and provided reassurance on availability of funding at the outset, which helped support our submitted offer on the business. Christie & Co were brilliant, too, and we can’t thank them both enough.”
Jonathan Board, Director at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, comments, “I am very pleased to have sold the business for Peter, who will now get a well-earned retirement. I know that Purvi and Lewis will make a success of this business.”
Gary Boyce, Director at Christie Finance, comments, “Having decided to relocate to South Wales, we were delighted to work with Lewis and Purvi and help them realise their ambition of acquiring their first pharmacy business. With them both being qualified and capable pharmacists, they are ideally suited to take on ownership of the business and ensure it continues to provide a full range of services to residents in Glyncoch and surrounding areas. The funding secured through Christie Finance provides the necessary financial support to grow the business and we wish them every success for the future.”
Glyncoch Pharmacy was sold off an asking price of £600,000.
