Group of pubs across North England on the market through Christie & Co

After over 17 years of trading, Chameleon Bar and Dining has instructed specialist business property adviser Christie & Co to sell its three remaining freehold pubs in Lancaster and Baildon.

The three pubs which have been brought to the market are The Keys at Slyne, and The Greaves, both of which are situated in Lancaster, and the Halfway House in Baildon near Leeds. All of the businesses have traded well over the years and present a good opportunity for new operators to invest in and drive forward.

Alistair Arkley, who has been a shareholder and chairman of the company since it was founded by Phil Strong in 2000 comments, "Phil decided to retire a couple of years ago and my colleague Barry Whitehead and I feel that we have reached the stage where we would rather spend the time with our growing number of grandchildren and the time is right to sell the business.

"We know that Christies & Co will do a good job in marketing and selling the individual outlets or the group and we look forward to a successful outcome in due course.  We are very pleased with the work of our Managing Director, Marc Craddock, whose experience will be valuable in leading our team through the sale process.

“We would like to thank all of our Chameleon team, some of whom have worked with us for many years. We will be communicating with them throughout the process and want to wish them all the best for their futures.”

Noel Moffitt, Head of Brokerage – Pubs at Christie & Co, adds, “With quality managed public houses such as the Chameleon group on the market, there is sure to be strong levels of interest from a national and local perspective. The team have worked very hard building trade over the years, but the time has come for Alistair and Barry to step down and leave the door open for buyers to further build on their success going forward.”
