The beautiful and historic Beckford Inn & Hotel has been sold to Wadworth Brewery in a deal brokered by specialist property adviser Christie + Co.

The delightful 18th century coaching inn has been owned and operated by Anthony Mears and his wife Jane since 2009. While under their ownership, the handsome period property underwent extensive refurbishment and earned an enviable reputation for its excellent food (made with fresh local produce) and fine accommodation. The couple will now be returning to Amersham.

Founded in 1875, Wadworth is a Wiltshire-based regional brewery and pub company with in excess of 240 pubs in their portfolio. Beckford Inn & Hotel was sold off an asking price of offers in excess of £1 million.

Nicholas Calfe, Director at Christie + Co’s Bristol office who handled the sale, comments: “We are delighted to have sold Beckford Inn on behalf of Anthony and Jane, and wish them the very best for their future endeavours.”

He adds: “The property is an excellent addition to Wadworth’s impressive portfolio and we are delighted to have played a part in their continued expansion.”
