Designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the rugged Northumberland coastline boasts some of the UK’s best beaches, nature reserves and islands, along with jaw dropping historic castles, quaint villages and picturesque harbours, making it a haven for tourists.

The Longstone House Hotel is situated on the edge of Seahouses, about half a mile from the vibrant harbour and sea front and is available for sale with a guide price of £1.25 million. The hotel is spread across a circa 0.58-acre site, and comprises 16 en-suite bedrooms, a bar and restaurant, sunny beer garden and private function room.

Adjoining the main building is a manager’s apartment and a good sized three-bedroom family house, along with ample parking and a large garage workshop which has potential for conversion into several townhouses, subject to the necessary planning permissions.

Owners, Trevor and Anne Leadbitter have invested significantly in the business, completing a remodel and refurbishment within the last few years, placing the hotel in a good condition to take full advantage of the busy summer that lies ahead for the hospitality sector.

Trevor and Anne are looking forward to retiring following the sale and they comment, “We have had some wonderful years here and we are sure that whoever buys the hotel will enjoy a great deal of success and have the same happy times as we have. This is a great place to live and work and our guests include walkers, cyclists, birdwatchers, golfers and photographers who come to the area for the multitude of attractions which we have to offer.”

Handling the sale for Christie & Co is Hospitality Director, Mark Worley who comments, “Being born and raised in Newcastle and like many Geordies and North Easterners, the Northumberland Coast and in particular, the stretch between Amble and Bamburgh holds many fond memories for me. Given the demand for rural and coastal hospitality businesses caused largely by the boom in the UK staycation sector, especially for those with land and development potential, this lovely hotel in an area which is hugely sought after at present ticks quite a few boxes, so we expect a high level of interest amongst buyers.”
