Maidstone convenience store sold through Christie & Co
Southerns News and General Stores, located in the Kent county town of Maidstone, has been sold through specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.
The large convenience store has been sold on a freehold basis to an independent multiple retailer, who is looking forward to taking the helm and building on the foundations laid by the previous owners to continue to grow this long established business.
Former owners Nick and Christine Southern commented on the sale; “We are delighted to have finally completed the sale of the shop, several issues came up throughout the process but through a combination of Jack at Christie & Co, us and the buyer, we managed to overcome them all. Jack stayed in contact regularly, always getting back to us promptly and diligently chasing all parties to ensure the sale progressed as quickly as it could.”
Business Agent, Jack Dudley of Christie & Co’s Maidstone office who handled the sale comments; “Both my clients and I are delighted to complete this sale, overcoming several hurdles along the way. Using our industry contacts, we were able to secure an excellent multiple retailer and conduct the whole transaction through to completion. We wish the new purchaser all the best for the future and know that their community friendly approach to retailing will be perfect for the local customers.
“The convenience retail market remains incredibly buoyant and there is huge demand for both freehold and leasehold stores across the South East.”
Christie & Co sold the site off an asking price of £425,000.
