New futures for three closed Cornish care homes following recent sales
Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of three former Cornish care homes; Highermead in Camelford, and Meadow View and Hillcrest in Redruth.
Highermead - a 21-bedroom, detached care home which is located towards the outskirts of the North Cornish town of Camelford - has been purchased by a local buyer for residential use.
Meadow View - a former bed and breakfast turned care home which occupies a semi-rural location in Redruth – has been purchased by local bed and breakfast operator, Marnie Webber, who was looking to open a second business.
Hillcrest – a detached, period property situated in a residential area towards the outskirts of Redruth – has been purchased by Cornwall-based supported living provider, Kerensa Care & Support, which also owns Tresillian House in nearby St Austell.
Simon Harvey, Senior Director in Christie & Co’s South West Healthcare team, who handled the transactions, comments, “The sale of these former Cornish care homes to such a variety of buyers demonstrates the range of coverage that we, at Christie & Co, are able to provide within the marketing of any business, whether trading and discrete or closed and comprehensively openly marketed. We are delighted to have been able to assist a family in acquiring a new home, albeit one that will take some time to realise its full potential, and to local bed & breakfast operators who were looking to expand their business with an additional site, so we wish them well in what remains one of Cornwall’s key industries.
“Most notably for the care sector, we are pleased to have been able to support the continued expansion and growth of the family-run, care and supported living business, Kerensa Care, with their acquisition of Hillcrest in Redruth. It is always really positive to not only see a company expand in this sector but also retain a care-based property for continued similar use.”
The three homes were sold for undisclosed prices.
In addition to these sales, Christie & Co is also marketing other closed, former care homes including a detached property in Plymouth and a building in Redruth that is divided into multiple independent units and situated close to the town centre and train station.
