New owners for traditional Essex pub near Brentwood
Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has completed on the sale of the Olde Dog Inn, situated in the Essex village of Herongate Tye, Brentwood, to a group of local businessmen.
Located just off the A127 between Billericay and Romford, the Olde Dog Inn is a weather boarded Grade II listed pub dating back to the 16th century, which retains many of its historic features.
The food-led pub has a large open plan trading space providing covers for around 90 people with a traditional beamed ceiling bar and adjoining snug. Externally, there is a trade patio area to the front of the pub, a trade garden to the rear, and a large car park, with a total plot size of almost an acre of land.
Prominently located on Billericay Road and close to the popular town of Brentwood, the pub is easily accessible via main roads the M25 and A127 and is close to the new Crossrail station at Shenfield, which is around three miles north of the property. Local attractions include Weald Country Park, Thorndon Country Park, and a number of nearby golf courses and wedding venues.
The well established business has been operated and owned by the same family for over 30 years and has now been purchased by a group of local businessmen, headed by Tyrone Coombes, who intend to invest in the property to help grow the business.
Anthony Jenkins, Associate Director at Christie & Co, who handled the sale comments, "I'm very happy to have assisted in the sale of this historic pub. We had good levels of interest locally thanks to the business’ reputation, in addition to the high demand for freehold businesses in this part of Essex. I wish the new owners all the best with their future endeavours and I have no doubt the business will thrive under their ownership."
The business was sold off an asking price of £1,400,000 for the freehold interest.
