New owners found to continue the success of Canterbury pub

The Hop Pocket is an attractive country pub with many traditional features.  It is located in the village of Bossingham, halfway between the cathedral city of Canterbury and the lively port of Dover. Bossingham is a large hamlet and the Hop Pocket is the only pub in the village, with its name originating from the large sacks in which hops were transported in.
 
The pub is rated with a score of four out of five in the Good Pub Guide and is popular with locals and visitors alike. The Kent countryside attracts many visitors due to its castles, coastlines, cliffs and cracking views, and the Hop Pocket is particularly popular with walkers and cyclists due to its pretty garden, children’s play area and good reputation for food.
   
James Hughes, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co, handled the sale and comments, “The Hop Pocket garnered plenty of interest and we did receive a number of offers. The market in Kent is always buoyant so we were always confident of being able to find a buyer for the Hop Pocket.”
 
The Hop Pocket was sold for an agreed fee of £390,000 for the freehold interest.
