Newly renovated Cheshire hotel sold through Christie & Co
The newly renovated Stanneylands Hotel, set in the heart of the spectacular Cheshire countryside, has been sold through specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.
Situated on c. 3.4 acres of land within the desirable and sought after location of Wilmslow, the area boasts many parks and national trust sites, including the likes of Quarry Bank Mill, Dunham Massey and Tatton Park to name but a few. The hotel is also located near the Manchester International Airport and Manchester’s city centre.
The hotel was purchased in 2015 by the Mere Group, owned by Mark Boler and Gary Corbett. Armed with a vision to transform the classic Cheshire institution into an elegant hideaway, Stanneylands closed its doors to the public while it underwent a remarkable £1.7m refurbishment and commenced trading in April 2017. Following the stunning renovation, the 52 bedroom hotel now boasts two beautiful dining venues, the British and rustic Tap & Pantry and the elegant Grill Room, alongside three function suites ideal for weddings, conferences and other events. Additionally, the property boasts ample parking and beautiful landscaped gardens.
New owner, Manchester brewer and pubs operator, JW Lees is growing its hospitality business in the North West, including the newly refurbished Alderley Edge Hotel, the newly acquired Boddington Arms in the Ribble Valley and many famous inns and pubs throughout the North West.
William Lees-Jones, sixth generation Managing Director of JW Lees comments, "When we saw that Stanneylands was available, we immediately knew that it would be a great asset for us to acquire and we believe that we can add value to the business by welcoming it to our growing hotels and inns business headed up by Tony Spencer. We now have 287 bedrooms under company management across 12 sites and our Hotels and Inns Division is an increasingly important part of our business."
Ryan Lynn, Director at Christie & Co’s Manchester office who handled the sale comments, "We were very happy to work with the Mere Group to sell Stanneylands and found JW Lees to be a great and straight forward buyer to deal with. From the start, the hotel was marketed on a very confidential basis with a view to maximise the sale price, but also with a goal to achieve a quick deal. With a fast and effective marketing campaign, we introduced several buyers, received multiple bids and completed on the deal within a couple of months of it being agreed.
"A fantastic result for all involved and we wish JW Lees the best of luck with the new addition to their portfolio and Mark Boler, Gary Corbett & Finance Director, Ian O’Toole the best of luck in their next venture, after successfully completing on the sale of The Mere Resort alongside Stanneylands."
The Stanneylands Hotel sold off an asking price of £6,250,000.
