North York Moors village inn comes to the market
Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has been instructed to sell the leasehold of The Inn at Hawnby, located in the heart of Hawnby, a picturesque North Yorkshire village set within the North York Moors National Park.
Full of character, the country inn comprises a bar and lounge with seating for 30 covers and a restaurant with seating for a further 40 covers. The restaurant features a large bay window and a paved terrace, providing stunning views over the moors. On the first floor, there are six double en suite letting rooms and a further three self-contained letting rooms in a converted outbuilding.
Situated on the Mexborough estate, the inn is integral to the village, serving as a hub for the local community, with trade boosted by the many tourists who flock to the area in pursuit of outdoor activities and sightseeing. The inn is extremely popular with walkers and cyclists during the summer months and benefits from visitors throughout the shooting season, which starts with The Glorious Twelfth of August and ends in February.
The estate was purchased by John Savile, the 6th Earl of Mexborough in 1897 and Mexborough Estates, owned and operated by the Savile family, currently maintains a number of properties in the village. Mexborough Estates is now seeking an experienced operator to take on a new, free of tie lease and restore the pub as the hub of the village.
Jamie Savile of Mexborough Estates comments, “The success of The Inn is crucial to the estate and wider village, and we are extremely passionate about finding somebody who shares our enthusiasm and desire to build a sustainable business to be enjoyed by the village community and tourists alike.”
David Cash, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co is handling the sale and comments, “Jamie and the team at Mexborough Estates are keen to work with prospective tenants to ensure that The Inn is let to a credible tenant on sustainable terms and ensure that its status as the hub of the village is retained.”
Christie & Co is seeking an asking price of Nil Premium for the leasehold interest and inviting rental offers.
