North Yorkshire four star B&B on the market after 30 years

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has brought to the market Carlton Lodge, a four star bed and breakfast located in the historic town of Helmsley in Ryedale, North Yorkshire.

Featured in the Michelin Guide for bed and breakfasts, the eight bedroom Carlton Lodge trades from an impressive Victorian property on beautifully maintained grounds, set on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.

Helmsley is considered the centre of the North Yorkshire Moors and is one of the most visited towns in North Yorkshire, drawing visitors to its heritage, dating back to the 12th century, and natural beauty. The area has also been featured in blockbuster films, providing the set for some scenes in the Harry Potter movie franchise to be filmed.

Carlton Lodge is well established and enjoys a prestigious reputation for high quality, having been operated by the current owners since 1989, earning a range of awards and accolades in that time

Current owners, Chris & Margaret Parkin have decided to sell the business in order to retire and comment, “Both of us have enjoyed our time enormously in Helmsley and at the Carlton Lodge. We have raised our family here and become very much involved in the town's business community, winning the Market Town High Street of the Year award in 2016. We shall be a little sad to go but the time has come for others to take up the reins and enjoy themselves as much as we have.”

Matthew Hendry, Business Agent at Christie & Co is handling the sale and comments, “It is a pleasure to be involved in sales of businesses like the Carlton Lodge, as it is rare that such beautiful properties come to the market, especially ones in such amazing locations.

“The B&B offers a new owner the potential to continue to run a successful business, and the building is licenced so that offers potential to increase turnover with additional revenue streams such as introducing a restaurant, subject to relevant planning permissions.”

Carlton Lodge is on the market at a freehold asking price of £825,000.
