Owner takes Stepping Stone to retirement as nursery changes hands
Christie & Co is delighted to announce the recent sale of the popular Stepping Stones Children’s Day Nursery in Leigh.
The nursery had been privately owned by Mrs Tricia Cavanagh since it was first registered in 1991. The nursery was originally registered for 36 children with owners spacious living accommodation located to the first floor.
Mrs Cavanagh has now decided that it is time to retire and is handing the keys over to new owners.
The nursery has been purchased by a new operator in the childcare sector who plans to continue operating the nursery, which provides a valuable service to Leigh and the surrounding areas.
Nick Brown, Associate Director at Christie & Co’s Manchester office handled the sale and comments, “As the sale progressed we advised the owner that the saleability of the nursery would be enhanced by gaining planning permission to extend the space for children to the first floor. This was then achieved and now the nursery has now been sold to a first time entrant to the sector who is looking forward to maximising the scope and potential of this exciting opportunity.
“The fact that this business was contained within a valuable property in its own grounds made this an attractive proposition for people looking to operate in the area, and as a result, we saw a high level of interest in this particular setting.”
The now former owner Mrs Tricia Cavanagh comments, “While I have really enjoyed working with children and parents at Stepping Stones, I felt that the time was right to move onto other things.
“It’s been a pleasure to operate in such a great setting, and wish the new owners, and all parents, both current and future, all the very best.”
“Finally I would like to take this opportunity to thank Nick Brown for his enormous support and valuable advice during the sale.”
