Post office in Harrogate changes hands through Christie & Co
Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has completed on the leasehold sale of Cold Bath Road Post Office, in the heart of the spa town of Harrogate in North Yorkshire, to experienced local operator Asad Rafiq.
The well-presented post office and newsagents gained its unusual name from the street it is located on, which also hosts a variety of local independent shops and businesses. Enjoying a high level of footfall, the busy residential area provides strong trade for the business within the affluent town.
The previous owners, Trevor and Susan Spurgeon, decided to place the business on the market in order to pursue retirement after six years in operation.
New owner Asad Rafiq plans to continue operating the post office, investing in the business and driving it forward. He comments, “We have had the honour of taking over such a thriving Post Office and becoming part of such an amazing community for many more years of excellent customer service. We offer a wide range of post office services, which are now available 7 days a week (Monday-Saturday 7am-6pm Sunday 8am-2pm). We have also introduced some new items in our shop such as ice creams and lollies, toys, e-cigs, sim cards, gift hampers and many more things to come your way soon. Please like and share our new Facebook and Twitter Page (@coldpost) for updates.”
Andrew Birnie, Director at Christie & Co handled the sale and adds, “We were delighted to assist our clients in their plans to sell the post office and retire. We received a lot of interest and several offers and finally agreed a sale to a local, experienced retailer who is keen to introduce more stock and aims to make the future of the post office in this location a success. We wish our clients a long and happy retirement.”
