Priory Pharmacy under new ownership for the first time since 1983

Priory Pharmacy is a community pharmacy which dispenses an average of 1,314 items per month. It is positioned centrally in a busy parade in Orpington, Kent, alongside a Co-op food store and other retailers at the northern end of the high street. Orpington is well served by public transport with direct train links to London Charing Cross.

This freehold sale is rare in the sector and offers its new buyer the opportunity to improve the business’s services and modernise shop to further build on its success.

The pharmacy was previously owned by Mr Gurmit Phull, who decided to retire after nearly 40 years working at the business. He comments, “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Priory Pharmacy serving the lovely people of Orpington and St Mary Cray, and wish Mr Channa all the success in the future.”

The business has been purchased by experienced operator, Castle Shaw Ltd. Speaking on behalf of the company, Mr Prab Channa comments, “We are excited about how we can develop this pharmacy having just moved back to the area ourselves. We plan to modernise the shop and offer more advanced services to the local area.”

Mark Page, Director of Medical at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, comments, “It’s always a pleasure to help a Pharmacist retire, especially when they put as many years into their pharmacy as Mr Phull. He can now take a well-earned break after almost 40 years on his feet, though I suspect he’ll be back locuming for a year or two yet as he loves his work.”

The Priory Pharmacy was sold off an asking price of £75,000 plus freehold value.
