Pub for sale in Outlander's Fife village
The Red Lion, a 17th Century, two-storey coaching inn situated in the centre of Culross, Fife has been brought to the market by commercial business property specialist, Christie & Co.
The Inn itself overlooks the River Forth and the village is situated close to the start of the Fife Coastal Trail which is popular with walkers.
Culross was used in the filming of British-American TV series Outlander last year and since this, visitor numbers to attractions in the village have risen by as much as 12% according to Fife Council. The village has also been used for the setting of several other Box Office hits including the 2000 children’s film, The Little Vampire.
The Red Lion incorporates three main bar areas at ground floor level with a total seating capacity of 70+, alongside a large paved area with fixed seating for a further 80 customers. The property also offers a spacious owners’ apartment with a private entrance, which includes a kitchen/diner, utility room, lounge, three bedrooms, two bathrooms and ancillary storage areas. It also incorporates a double garage and a large, private surfaced car park with space available for around 25 cars.
The business currently trades seven days a week, with food served from 12 noon until 9pm every day.
Stuart Drysdale who is handling the sale on behalf of Christie & Co’s Edinburgh office comments: “This successful pub and restaurant business is up for sale due to the current owners planning to retire and spend more time sailing on their yacht in the summer and skiing in the winter.
“The sale presents an excellent opportunity to take on a busy public house with strong food sales and little immediate local competition within a charming village made famous by the silver screen.”
The freehold is available for £1.2m.
