Renovated Dorset pub, Gaggle of Geese reopens
Dorset village pub the Gaggle of Geese, which was sold by specialist property adviser Christie & Co, is reopening under its new ownership after going through a major refurbishment programme that has taken nine months to complete.
The Gaggle of Geese, situated in the picturesque village of Buckland Newton, was purchased by Simon and Sarah Colquhoun through Christie & Co in July 2017 after being closed for three years. Experienced pub owners Simon and Sarah decided to make a lifestyle change and move their family to the idyllic Dorset countryside, having run a busy Brighton pub, and realised their dream in bringing the iconic Gaggle of Geese back to life.
Set in four acres, there is extensive outside space to be utilised, and already a new BBQ shack and wood fired pizza oven have been installed on the terrace. Further plans include the addition of a shepherd’s hut this summer for outdoor events and development of the vast fields on the plot. Located in the heart of the community and close to the nearby bustling towns of Sherborne and Dorchester, the Gaggle of Geese aims to open its doors to accommodate a loyal local following and attract visitors from further afield.

The local community have been very supportive; even giving up free time to help us decorate, garden and upcycle. We are looking forward to making the Gaggle a successful business, family home and hub for the village.”
