Restaurant voted Sussex's Best Dining Experience 2015 is on the market
The Curlew, a restaurant in Bodiam, East Sussex is looking for a new owner through specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.
The restaurant was a winner of Sussex’s Best Dining Experience in 2012 and 2015, as well as a Finalist for 2016. It is situated near to the villages of Sandhurst and Ewhurst Green, along with the attractions of Bodiam Castle and a railway built to provide transport for hops being grown for Guinness.
Once a former coaching inn for those travelling between London and Hastings, the restaurant caters for 64 covers with an open pass view of the kitchen. Its enclosed trade garden seats 32 and there is parking for around 20 vehicles.
James Hughes of Christie & Co’s Maidstone office is handling the sale. He comments, “The current owners have been running the business for eight years and have built up a strong reputation among both the local and wider community. The restaurant is fitted and maintained to a very high standard throughout and is in no need of further investment.
“It really is a beautiful property in a beautiful location. The market in East Sussex is steady and demand is increasing, which can only be a good sign. Because of the attractive price, we expect a lot of interest consistent with the levels of demand within the area.
“Whoever purchases The Curlew will be taking over a successful and well-run business which has even more potential to grow.”
Christie & Co is seeking £695,000 for the freehold interest in the property.
