Since its highly successful opening night in December 2015 when it ran out of beer, the current owners, Cyril Cypres-Paries and Melanie Royer have taken the Flippin Frog from strength to strength. Offering a ‘no-frills’ approach, the pub is popular with locals who come to enjoy an evening of live unplugged music as well as locally produced food and drink.

Rochester is a historic city in the unitary authority of Medway. It is situated at the lowest bridging point of the River Medway about 30 miles from London. The town is famous for its connections with Charles Dickens, who based many of his novels on the area, encouraging an abundance of tourists every year. Other tourist attractions include Rochester Castle and Rochester Cathedral. The town is well connected and easily accessible from London, with transport links that include a mainline railway station with links to the High Speed (HS1) line to London and the Kent coast, together with good road access via the A2 and M2.

The pub sits opposite Rochester Riverside development, with the ongoing construction of 1400 new homes and businesses, including shops and a mini market as well as a promenade along the banks. Internally the pub comprises a 50-cover bar area with an additional courtyard space for 20 outdoors.

This sale offers a fantastic opportunity for the new owner to take over a thriving business, which is featured in the Good Beer Guide, and increase revenue by extending the opening hours.

James Hughes, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co, is handling the sale and comments, “The Flippin Frog was the first micropub in Rochester and has a good reputation amongst the local drinking community. For that reason, as well as its location within an historic town, I would hope to see plenty of interest. Rochester has lots of residential development taking place at present which can only help to increase on the current trade.”

The Flippin Frog is on the market at an asking price of £40,000 for the leasehold interest.
