Successful pub-restaurant in affluent village of Piercebridge sold

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has sold the Fox Hole Pub & Kitchen, a substantial pub restaurant located in the affluent village of Piercebridge, near Darlington in County Durham. Built on the site of an ancient Roman fort, Piercebridge draws visitors to see the remains of a large bridge that carried a Roman road across the River Tees.

The Fox Hole is immaculately presented with a bar and restaurant decorated in an eclectic mixture of styles.  The versatile pub presents a variety of spaces for patrons to enjoy, including “The Wellie Bar” which offers a relaxed atmosphere. Those looking for a more sophisticated dining experience will enjoy the adjoining designated restaurant area. The first-floor houses two-bedroom owner’s/manager’s accommodation which presents the opportunity for a conversion into letting accommodation or private dining.

The pub was purchased as a derelict building by the former owner, Tim Wilks, some five years ago whom with the help of his business partners transformed it into a successful business with a fantastic reputation.  They decided to sell to concentrate on other business interests.

The Fox Hole has been sold to a multi-site operator, Tom Park, who owns Rustique Restaurant in Richmond and The Waggon Inn in Gateshead.  He comments; “My family & I are local to Piercebridge and were regular customers at The Fox Hole. I own two other hospitality businesses already and when the opportunity arose to purchase another, one which I knew very well it seemed sensible to explore the opportunity further. I’ve been at The Fox Hole a few weeks now and things are going really well.”

David Cash, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co, handled the sale and comments, “The Fox Hole is a fantastic business and the former owners built and upheld an outstanding reputation for quality. We had interest and offers from a number experienced, local operators which I think highlights the demand for businesses like this one. It’s great to see operators like Tom continuing to expand and I’d like to wish him all the best for the future.”
