Supermarket for sale for the first time in over a century
Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co have reduced the asking price for G.H.Bowkett Limited, a convenience store in Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire which has been in the same family's ownership for over 110 years.
The store, which was successfully run by the Bowkett family as a traditional family business for more than a century, is situated on the main road that continues from the high street. Surrounded by residential housing, it benefits from a good trading position on the market square.
The sale of the former supermarket, which saw two generations of the family involved in the day to day operations, follows two of the lead directors in the company entering retirement from the retail convenience sector.
Dave Morris, Director of Retail at Christie & Co comments, “The Bowkett family worked incredibly hard to build their long-established family business, but now that the owners have retired, this is a fantastic opportunity to take on a substantial property in a prime location. The property is suitable for reopening as a store or may be suitable for development, subject to planning.”
The supermarket benefits from a large c.13,000 square foot ground floor, with c.2,700 square feet of first floor office space. Further benefits include side access and a small rented car park opposite the property.
The supermarket is being marketed at £480,000 for the freehold interest.
