The Grog & Gruel in Fort William seeks new owner
The Grog & Gruel, a pub and restaurant situated in the Scottish Highlands town of Fort William, has been brought to the market through specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.
The popular bar and restaurant enjoys a central location on the high street and benefits from high levels of footfall. The Grog & Gruel comprises a ground floor lounge bar and a restaurant area on the first floor, as well as a beer garden to the rear and a fully fitted commercial kitchen.
Overlooking Loch Linnhe, home to Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles, and host to a leg of the Mountain Biking World Cup since 2002, the popular tourist town enjoys high levels of visitors throughout the year.
Following 25 years of ownership, current owners and brothers, Edward and Guy Daynes have decided to sell in order to further develop their hospitality business in Glencoe and comment, “Food and drink in the Highlands looked quite different 25 years ago, and we set out with a 10 year plan to showcase Scottish products in a relaxed environment, and we’ve kind of got carried away with things. A quarter of a century later and we think that it’s time to let someone else take The Grog & Gruel to the next level, in a very exciting and dynamic market.”
Stuart Drysdale, Director at Christie & Co’s Edinburgh Office is handling the sale and comments, “The Grog & Gruel has recorded steady levels of turnover and profitability in recent years and requires little capital expenditure. Given the business’ central location within the town’s pub and restaurant circuit, The Grog & Gruel presents a terrific opportunity for an experienced operator to begin trading immediately and take the business to the next level.”
Christie & Co is seeking an asking price of £825,000 for the freehold going concern of The Grog & Gruel.
