The only pharmacy in Tobermory is on sale for £500,000

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has brought to market Tobermory Pharmacy, the only pharmacy on the Isle of Mull.

Tobermory Pharmacy has been trading very profitably for many years now, providing an integral service to the island’s community. The business dispenses an average of 2,805 NHS items per month and has a good working relationship with the island’s three GP surgeries.

The pharmacy occupies the ground floor of a three-storey building built from traditional stone construction, and benefits from stunning uninterrupted views of the sea and island’s coastline. The property was last refitted in 2007 and remains in very good condition.

The business lies in Tobermory’s town centre, completely unopposed on the Isle of Mull. The next closest pharmacy is in Oban on the mainland. Much of Mull’s population lives in its capital, Tobermory, which has an array of amenities such as shops, cafes, pubs, and hotels.

Many associate the island with the well-known children’s TV programme ‘Balamory’, which has helped increase tourism, as it extended the range of activities to do around the island. Other popular tourist attractions include the wide variety of music festivals, local food events, Mull local Mod, Mull car rally and the West Highland yacht week. There are also around 50 visits per year from the various sized cruise ships.

The business has been owned by Mrs Julie Walker since 2016, when she relocated from Newcastle Upon Tyne. Mrs Walker, who has decided to sell due to changes in family circumstances, comments, “I love my work here in Tobermory, in fact we provide services for the whole island and some of the mainland and will be very sad to leave especially since the inception of the one island practice – Mull Medical Group. We work very closely with the practice. It is a wonderful place to practice community pharmacy.”

Karl Clezy, Director at Christie & Co who is handling the sale, comments, “I sold the pharmacy to Julie back in 2016 when she relocated from the North East of England. Back then the pharmacy was also trading very well, which proves that, for a long time now, this has been a reliable and stable business to invest in. Buyers should take note this pharmacy remains an essential provider of healthcare to the community on the Isle of Mull and the thousands of tourists that visit every year.”

Tobermory Pharmacy is on the market for an asking price of £500,000.
