Well established Birmingham off license on the market
Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has brought to the market Michael's Drink Stop, an off license store in Acocks Green, Birmingham.
The double fronted store has recently undergone a full refit, including signage, and comprises large, open fronted display chillers, as well as gondola shelving and four tier units. The premises also includes a two section stock room and staff facilities with access to the loading area.
Michael’s is a well known and established food and drinks retailer in and around the Birmingham and Solihull area, operating as an award-winning business since the 1960s and is synonymous with well located high quality stores. The business first started selling alcohol from the original Green Lane Small Heath store as far back as 1969 and Michael’s Drink Stop in Acocks Green has been trading since 2003. The store has been reluctantly put onto the market due to the family wanting to develop and focus more on its property portfolio and investments.
Jas Sunner, current owner and grandson of one of the founders of the business, comments, "There is a great opportunity for someone to take over this store and give it the real drive and attention it needs to make it a superb site. It is ideal for someone wanting to introduce fresh food and also increase the convenience and top up shop side, which will also improve the store margin."
Stephen Bell, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co, is handling the sale and comments, “This busy and popular off license is run predominantly by staff and therefore offers the opportunity for a new owner to be increasingly hands on. Michael’s Drink Stop offers a new owner potential to build on the existing trade through the introduction of a more comprehensive convenience offering and we anticipate a wide range of buyers to be interested in this well located and established store.”
Michael’s Drink Stop is being marketed at an asking price of £75,000 for the leasehold interest.
