Young's acquires Bristol's Riverstation restaurant
Riverstation, the well known and long standing restaurant & bar on the waterfront in Bristol city centre has officially been sold to Young’s through specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.
The previous owner, John Payne, who founded Smiles Brewery in Bristol at the start of the cask beer revolution, created the Riverstation in 1997 in what was originally the river police station and boatyard. He opted to sell for a quieter life and now plans to split his time between London and France.
Simon Chaplin, Head of Restaurants at Christie & Co comments, “This is a unique and lively venue in Bristol which has always been extremely popular.
“Christie & Co sought offers in excess of £2m for the freehold with several offers being received above this price from a wide range of buyers. This is proof that excellent prices are still being achieved for quality, well-located businesses, especially those which can be operated as managed sites or as part of a group. Young’s & Co continue to seek new sites outside London and we are sure they will be fine custodians for the Riverstation going forward.”
